In the run up to the SDI Awards 2022 gala dinner and prize-giving on 22 March, we’ve been asking our finalists about their experiences, reasons for entering and hopes for the future. Here’s what Fujitsu told us:
Finalist – Best Service Transformation Project 2022
What made you decide to enter the awards?
The SDI awards are something we look forward to every year, there is a real buzz in the team when we meet to talk about what our entries could be for this year. The drive the SDI awards gives us to shout about what we’ve done is a big boost for us.
What part of the awards process did you enjoy the most?
The presentations! It’s a fine blend of scary and exciting. The judges give nothing away, but we like the build-up and being able to talk about what we’ve done to people who understand the challenges and pressures.
In the last 12 months, what has been the most successful initiative your team has implemented to help your business improve its performance?
I’m sure everyone says it, but it’s the growth of automation. Not because it’s the latest thing to talk about, but it’s genuinely helping our people get bandwidth in their working day, and it’s giving them headspace and separation to have a true work/life balance. As we move into a hybrid working society it’s really important to us that our colleagues and customers have all the support we can give.
What are your top 3 tips to make a service transformation project successful?
1. Honesty & Transparency with your customer, share the good and bad so they understand why things are the way they are.
2. Speed of delivery: we live in an on-demand society, so speed impresses, but it has to be right.
3. Really understand your customers’ world: Know the impact your service has on your customers, and their customers. We are all connected in society, take the time to understand how.
What one thing do you think really makes you stand out as a service organisation?
Easiest question in the world to answer. Our people.
How are you preparing to evolve your service over the next few years? Please share your most exciting plan with us!
There are so many variables right now as we start to evolve past COVID, we’re seeing that service quality, customer experience and perception continues to be everything. But we want to continue to grow with our customers as they return to offices, something in the Hybrid working space as well as working on a second generation of automation to elevate the functionality and create even more efficiencies in the services we provide.
What does it mean to your team to be a finalist in the ‘Best Service Transformation Project’ category?
We are all very humbled to have made it this far, there were a lot of late nights, cold dinners and cups of coffee consumed to get us here. But there is pride in everything we did, and to be able to share that as a group and to be able to call out we are finalists is a great honour.
We’d obviously like to win, but we’re very much looking forward to the experience, being able to connect with people again and for the whole experience win or lose.
What advice would you give to anyone entering the awards next year?
Write down your successes as you go! It’s a lot easier than trying to do it retrospectively. And if you’re on the fence about applying, -go for it. What you have done could make an impact on others, shape the direction of a customer that isn’t yours. And that’s a pretty cool thing.
What would you do to celebrate if your team won ‘Best Service Transformation Project 2022’?
There would be dancing involved… that’s a given! I think more than that though we would recognise the people internally within Fujitsu as having made a significant contribution and been recognised by the industry. To be winners in the SDI world is massive, but being recognised internally would be like winning twice.
