Take a look into the future of artificial intelligence and meet the robot that everyone is talking about…
Pepper, the humanoid robot will be joining us at conference this year as one of our breakout speakers, as well as making a few surprise appearances along the way.
Manufactured by SoftBank Robotics, Pepper was first introduced to the world in 2014. Pepper is one of the first robots able to identify the four principle human emotions; joy, sadness, anger and surprise. He is capable of interpretating facial expressions such as a smile or frown and can also recognise the tone of someone’s voice, as well as non-verbal language such as the angle of your head. Pepper is able to function in these complex environments thanks to his 3D camera and 2 HD cameras that enable him to identify movements.
By perceiving and analysing your emotions and learning to get to know you, Pepper is able to adapt his attitude to suit yours. If you are happy, Pepper will share your joy, and if you are sad, Pepper will comfort you. This is the result of Pepper’s emotion engine- the constant dialogue between perception, adaption, learning and choice. Pepper is able to speak 19 different languages and loves to dance to his favourite music.
Pepper has recently taken the UK by storm and has been ‘employed’ in roles such as a receptionist, and is able to identify visitors with the use of facial recognition, send alerts for meeting organisers and arrange for drinks to be made. Southend-on-Sea borough council have recently hired Pepper as their newest social care employee. Other roles Pepper has undertook include a meet and greeter in a hospital in Belgium and even a coffee machine salesman in Japan!
Meet Pepper on Tuesday 13th March at The Conference For Service Desk Leaders where he’ll present his own session, accompanied by his human! Be taken into the world of robots and what the ultimate form of artificial intelligence could do for your service desk in the future.
In the meantime, watch Pepper’s slightly awkward first date…
